- Recognize advanced therapeutic options and exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the pharmacodynamics, efficacy, and safety profile of current and emerging IBD treatments, including biologics, and small molecule inhibitors.
- Accurately classify a patient's IBD phenotype, predict disease behavior, and identify clinical and diagnostic features relevant to creating an appropriate therapy plan.
- Tailor treatment to patient-specific presentation: select the most appropriate therapy based on IBD phenotype, behavior, severity, presence of complications, and patient preferences.
- Optimize treatment strategies employing a treat to target approach: modify treatment strategies based on the achievement of treatment targets including clinical response, biomarker response, clinical remission, endoscopic remission, and future targets of histologic/mucosal healing.
- Identify and mitigate the common barriers to medication access, including financial constraints, insurance coverage issues, and health system inefficiencies, particularly keeping in mind the needs of the underserved.
