The Guerette Symposia: Resilience Across the Lifespan: Strength-Based Strategies to Nurture Positive Mindsets, Caring, and Hope in Ourselves and Others with Dr. Robert Brooks

Québec, QC CA
May 23, 2022 to May 26, 2022

As professionals, we must manage our own feelings of stress and even burnout as we strive to bring meaning and purpose to our lives and the lives of others.  Doing so became of even greater urgency and importance as we faced the unprecedented, unpredictable mental health and other challenges brought about by the pandemic.

In this symposium, Dr. Brooks will describe interventions rooted in a strength-based framework for nurturing a “resilient mindset,” including the attributes of self-dignity, responsibility, compassion, and hope for both patients and professionals.  These interventions can be applied with individuals of all ages in a variety of settings including outpatient therapy, schools, homes, inpatient and residential programs, and the workplace.  Many case examples will be used.

COVID-19 entry requirements

Starting April 1, 2022, pre-entry tests will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travellers entering Canada by land, air or water. Until then, follow the pre-entry test requirements. You must still use ArriveCAN before and after April 1.

Unvaccinated travelers must have a negative COVID-19 molecular (PCR, RT-PCR, NAAT, RT-LAMP) or rapid antigen test result. The molecular tests must be taken a maximum of 72 hours before the scheduled departure of their last direct flight to Canada, and the antigen tests must be taken a maximum of 1 day before the scheduled departure of the last direct flight to Canada. Home tests are not accepted. Travelers returning from short trips must take the test outside of Canada. Travelers who have previously tested positive for COVID-19 may alternatively provide proof of a positive COVID-19 molecular test taken between 10 calendar days and 180 calendar days before departure. Counting starts the day following the day of testing. For example, if a positive COVID-19 molecular test was taken on January 1st, the 1st-day travelers could use it for entry into Canada by land or water would be January 11th. If travelers are flying, the earliest scheduled departure date of a flight to Canada permitted would be January 11th. Test results must include the traveler’s name and date of birth, the name and address of the laboratory/clinic/facility that administered the test, the date on which the test was taken, the type of test taken, and the test result. Travelers who fail to comply, or provide untruthful information on this measure, may be subject to a penalty or a fine. Travelers who are unable to provide evidence that they have received a result for a COVID-19 test may not be permitted to board.
