33rd Annual HCNE Winter Headache Symposium

This exciting symposium is designed for physicians, dentists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, physical therapists, and other health professionals to learn from the leaders in headache medicine.

Target Audience

This program is designed to educate practitioners who have an interest in the diagnosis and management of headache disorders. These include neurologists, primary care providers, dentists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, and other health care providers with an interest in Headache Medicine. 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participants will be able to:                                                           

  1. Describe the classification, diagnosis, treatment alternatives and ways to measure outcome for the common primary headache disorders
  2. Examine the most recent evidence for the CGRP modulating agents in the acute and preventive treatment of migraine.
  3. Examine the various issues in the chronification of migraine including controversies in the diagnosis of medication overuse headache.
  4. Discuss opportunities for intervention during the migraine prodrome
  5. Explain migraine genetics and the relevance to clinical practice
  6. Discuss how preclinical models of migraine with aura can help to understand symptoms and identify therapeutic targets.
  7. Discuss the science of psychedelics across the various pain disorders.
  8. Describe the role of inflammation in the progression from acute to chronic pain
  9. Discuss the “third wave”  behavioral treatments for migraine
  10. Explain the role of hormones in headache throughout the life span
  11. Describe the current understanding and controversies in the diagnosis of vestibular migraine
  12. Explain the intersection of functional neurological disorders with migraine.
  13. Describe the relationship between COVID-19 and headache.

Cancellation Policy

Substitution may be made at any time without an additional charge.  Refunds will be issued for all cancellations received at least two weeks prior to the start of the conference.  A $50.00 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds and credits. Should cancellation occur less than two weeks prior to the start of the conference, a credit towards another Boston University School of Medicine Continuing Medical Education Office conference will be issued, not a refund.  

“No shows” are subject to the full course fee.  Substitutions must be made in writing to cme@bu.edu.  Refunds and credits will not be issued once the conference has started.
