At the conclusion of this activity participants will be able to:

1. Describe the prevalence as well as the association between food insecurity and loneliness, two social determinants of health, in the marginalized and often underserved population of low-income older residents of urban subsidized housing

2. Explain that food insecurity is a complex phenomenon; the risk of persons experiencing food insecurity in later life may be heightened not only by physical health and economic factors but also by social and emotional factors

3. Articulate the role that healthcare professionals can play in identifying at risk older individuals by routinely incorporating assessments of household food insecurity, loneliness, and social support into care visits
