Learning objectives

To review the normal bleeding cessation and clot formation process.

To understand the differential diagnosis of bleeding disorder by abnormality in PT/PTT studies.

To familiarize with typical presenting symptoms and treatment of bleeding in patients with Hemophilia and von Willebrand disease (vWD).

To appreciate how inhibitor development complicates treatment in patients with hemophilia and how to treat acute bleeds in this population.

To appropriately recommend disposition by bleed type.
