General Overview: Harm reduction and language justice are both frameworks that center the experiences, rights and voices of program participants to ensure that services are relevant and their needs are being met. As key practices to help us advance social justice, both harm reduction and language justice give practitioners the opportunity to practice inclusion, create shared power and uplift the expertise of those we are aiming to serve.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review with participants the definition of language justice, harm reduction and cultural safety.
  • Explore with the group how these frameworks can enrich our professional practice.
  • Identify three ways participants can take action to integrate language justice into their work.
