The Transgender Introductory Primer is ideal for a variety of professionals in the helping and health professions, particularly mental health, social service and medical providers. During this training, participants will learn basic terminology and theory, how to ask for pronouns, health disparities facing the transgender community, resiliency factors, gender transition paths and support needs, and targeted best practices. Providers will have an opportunity following the training to list themselves in MaineTransNet's community health database.

Nursing credit is availableWhat actions should a school nurse take when a student discloses sexual abuse or assault?  This program will provide school nurses with best practice guidance when students make disclosures of sexual abuse/assault. This program will include information on appropriate actions based on what is known about the timing of the abuse/assault, mandated reporting, and access to resources including the MDPH Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program.

This is a 1.25-hour on-demand activity that provides guidance to primary care clinicians who manage care and support for patients with ILDs and their caregivers. The five (5) member faculty is comprised of a primary care physician (PCP), a pulmonologist, an ILD clinical pharmacy specialist, an ILD nurse, and an actual patient with ILD. This multidisciplinary roundtable is delivered as a role-played patient-case through several office visits. The primary care physician interviews an actual ILD patient and consults with the interprofessional team-members on management and best treatment methods. Also included are video vignettes of actual patients to provide the patient's perspective.

Multiple myeloma (MM) is one of the most common hematologic malignancies in adults and is the most common hematologic malignancy in Black patients. The incidence of MM in the black population is 2-3 times higher than in white patients however, the vast majority of MM clinical trials are conducted on a predominantly white population, resulting in a lack of data regarding MM treatment in Black patients. Our panel of expert Hematology/Oncology faculty convene a patient focus group-informed interactive video discussion emphasizing the treatment and clinical research disparities among Black and underserved patients. The focus groups were comprised of diverse groups of MM patients currently being treated at Boston Medical Center. This educational program builds off the complementary enduring activity to further address existing knowledge gaps related to the racial disparities which impact MM therapy and clinical trial inclusion; highlight ongoing inequities; and provide guidance so that healthcare clinicians can more effectively and equitably treat patients with MM. This activity dives into the results of the focus groups via a moderated panel discussion of the interprofessional care team.

This two-module activity addresses the current state of HIV in the US and healthy aging considerations for persons living with HIV (PWH). Also included are brief vignettes of actual patient interviews. Their perspectives will provide insight into the daily challenges and quality of life issues that can occur while living with HIV.

What is the school enrollment process for refugee students? How do school nurses obtain necessary health records and support the health needs of incoming refugee students?The overall goal of this course is to provide school nurses with information about refugee resettlement, including the health screening and immunization process, and to describe resources they can access as they work to provide culturally appropriate health services to meet the varied health needs of these students.
