Learning Objectives

1. Describe the function and properties of alveolar epithelial type I cells (type I pneumocytes). 
2. Discuss the benefits of an induced pluripotent stem cell based model of lung epithelial development.
3. Discuss the Hippo signaling pathway and the involvement of nuclear YAP in the differentiation of human alveolar epithelial type I cells.
