Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss the hypothesis there is a core transcriptional response to pneumococcal pneumonia is conserved across most lung mesenchymal cells
  2. Discuss results supporting the hypothesis that distinct subsets of lung mesenchymal cells, specifically matrix fibroblasts, display cell-subtype-specific responses.
  3. Describe proposed project plans to test the hypothesis that PDGFRα+ fibroblasts facilitate leukocyte movement into the lungs during pneumococcal pneumonia.
