Paul Rizzoli, MD
I am a Headache Medicine-trained neurologist working full time in the Graham Headache Center where I serve as the Division Chief for Headache, Department of Neurology, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. I developed the headache center fellowship training program that has trained headache fellows continuously for the past fourteen years. The Graham Headache Center is a tertiary referral center for the evaluation and management of the most severely disabled headache patients from all over New England. It treats over 4,000 patients per year and is staffed by eleven attending headache specialists, three fellows and two physician assistants.
In addition to a strong clinical background in the management of migraine, I have also developed an active clinical research program within the division having completed several trials in the past several years, both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored, and with three active trials currently. Over the years I have devoted much of my clinical and research time to the specific issue of the preventive treatment of migraine. It has been the major focus of my teaching, writing and research. I have published actively in this and other areas of headache medicine. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Headache Cooperative of New England and was a past associate editor for the journal, Headache.
