This enduring activity is a recording of a live 60-minute virtual training that was delivered in July 2020 as part of PNQIN's Stigma, Bias and Trauma-Informed Care educational sessions. 

The topics that are covered include: Trauma, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), unconscious bias and stigma, structural racism, and the six principles of trauma-informed care.

 

 

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nurse practitioners, pediatricians, and emergency medicine, family medicine and OB/GYN physicians.

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe and implement clinical best practice of the AIM maternal safety bundle
  2. Understand the roles of Stigma, Bias, and Trauma-informed Care on birth outcomes and disparities in health outcomes
  3. Understand the impact of stigma and bias on care delivery and outcomes
  4. Understand the impact of trauma-informed care on care delivery and outcomes
  5. Understand the impact of Stigma, Bias, and Trauma-informed Care on pain management for pregnant and postpartum people with opioid use disorder(OUD), discharge prescription practices for obstetric patients, and non-pharmacologic care of infants at risk for neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS)
