Target Audience
This ECHO® series is designed for a primary care audience. It is open to physicians, nurse practitioners (NPs), physician associates (PAs), and nurses who care for people with MASLD/MASH.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be better able to:
- Define the conditions of MASLD and MASH and their relationship to cardiometabolic conditions such as obesity and type 2 diabetes.
- Integrate available non-invasive tests into clinical practice for the identification, risk-stratification, and monitoring of patients with MASLD/MASH.
- Identify emerging treatments for MASLD/MASH and the criteria for patient eligibility.
- Outline evidence-based management strategies for individuals with MASLD/MASH, including how available therapies (e.g., GLP-1 RAs) can target multiple disease mechanisms.

Dr. Holly F. Lofton is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine and Surgery at NYU Langone Health, where she has served as director of the Medical Weight Management Program since 2012. Here, she designed the popular New You program to help her patients obtain results while fostering nutrition education and placing emphasis on a healthy lifestyle. She is currently involved in clinical research pertaining to the pharmacotherapy to treat weight recurrence after bariatric surgery as well as clinical drug trials. In her faculty role, Dr. Lofton continues to educate students and other physicians about diagnosing and treating obesity. She also educates the general public about the importance of maintaining a healthy weight through lectures, workshops, written, audio, and video media. She has served on the board of the Obesity Action Coalition, the Bariatric Medicine committee for the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and the Obesity Medicine Fellowship Council. In 2021, Dr. Lofton was also recently appointed as the Medical Director of the NFL Alumni Wellness Challenge which aims to optimize health in former athletes.
Dr. Lofton is a speaker for Currax Inc. and NovoNordisk. She is a speaker and receives grant research support from Eli Lilly. She is also a consultant for Medifast Inc. and Welldoc Inc.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 4.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
