Educational Needs 
This activity will provide participants with strategies to implement a developmentally-, diversity-, and trauma-informed approach to working with immigrant families with young children. The education will also define the impact of immigration trauma on immigrant families with young children as well as strategies to reduce the impact of secondary effects on providers collaborating with immigrant families. 

Target Audience

Physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and licensed mental health counselors.  

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be better able to: 

  • Identify the core developmental fears associated with the perinatal period and first five years of life.
  • Explain at least two of the parallels between the intrapsychic experience of immigration trauma and gestation.
  • Access strategies for mitigating the impact of complex trauma and immigration trauma during the first 5 years of life.
