An Overview of Type 1 Diabetes Management in Schools

This course is the self-paced version of SHIELD’s 2025 Clinical Update, revamped with additional information. The course is designed to enhance school nurses’ skills and knowledge in the care of students with diabetes. Learners will hear from diabetes providers and nurse educators about current and future diabetes management technologies and medications. We will discuss the role of the school nurse in managing these technologies, addressing access barriers, and best practices for delivering high-quality and equitable care for students with diabetes.

School health professionals who complete this course will be better prepared to care for students with diabetes, collaborate with providers and caregivers, and address inequities to ensure all students receive quality diabetes care and services that meet their needs.
