Skills Development II – Professional, improvisationally trained actors portraying Patient/Families (1 hour)

  Scenarios (3 - 4) practicing above – increasing severity and emotional response

 

 

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and nurse practitioners. 

 

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

1. Understand the role of coaching within a robust communication process

2. Anticipate and frame responses to questions that may arise from patients and families in disclosure conversations

3. Provide guidance to clinicians for anticipating and managing emotions during disclosure conversations

4. Apply techniques for effective coaching of clinicians in preparation for disclosure conversations
