SPEAK-UP Champion Implicit and Explicit Bias Education Live, Virtual Ambassador Course, 11/3 and 11/10/2023

This 5 hour virtually presented live program, provides education designed for healthcare .professionals who support and care for women before, during and after pregnancy or care for newborns.

It is an unacceptable fact that Black and Indigenous people are more likely than people from other races to die or suffer injuries during pregnancy and childbirth. SPEAK UP Champions© Implicit and Explicit Racial Bias education is provided via a live virtual interactive format. The education outlines strategies to help individuals and groups dismantle racism, provide quality equitable care, and reduce health disparities.

 

 

 

 

Target Audience

Healthcare professionals who support and care for women before, during and after pregnancy or care for newborns.

 

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to (or better able to): 

1. Describe factors that contribute to perinatal disparities based on a social justice framework.

2. Outline quality improvement strategies and tactics for eliminating implicit and explicit bias when caring for women before, during, and after pregnancy.

3. Develop a quality improvement action plan for ensuring equity in perinatal outcomes.
