Multidisciplinary Care for Lupus and Lupus Nephritis (2023)

This symposium will focus on the multidisciplinary care of patients with lupus and lupus nephritis. The program will cover disease pathogenesis, as well as newly available immunosuppressive therapies, and how to best implement these therapies in a multidisciplinary setting. In addittion, small group discussions with clinical scenarios based on real, deidentified patient experiences, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary management for this complex patient population will be included.

Target Audience

This program is designed for practicing adult and pediatric rheumatologists, nephrologists, dermatologists; fellowship trainees from rheumatology and nephrology departments; dermatology residents; and other healthcare professionals caring for patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and lupus nephritis.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this program, attendees will be able to:

  1. Differentiate the benefits and risks of biologic treatments in patients with lupus and lupus nephritis.
  2. Discuss newly approved therapies for patients with lupus and lupus nephritis in terms of therapeutic target, safety and efficacy data, and place in therapy.
  3. Successfully build a multidisciplinary care plan for patients with lupus and lupus nephritis.
  4. Measure patient related health outcomes in a multidisciplinary care model.
  5. Reduce health care disparities and health inequity in lupus and lupus nephritis patients using a multidisciplinary care approach.
