Learning Objectives
At the end of this activity, the learner or the healthcare team should be able to:
- Identify the core elements of an effective compliance program and apply additional best practices to right-size a compliance program for a community health center.
- Recognize key HIPAA and data privacy developments, including emerging state data privacy legislation, and practical risk mitigation strategies for safeguarding PHI and personal information in an evolving threat environment.
- Understand the regulatory considerations associated with the use of AI in health center operations, including applicable federal laws, transparency requirements, and strategies for developing internal AI governance policies.
- Assess the legal and compliance risks arising from recent federal executive orders and policy shifts including the practical impact on community health centers that receive federal funding.
- Develop practical, organization-level risk mitigation strategies across each compliance area addressed in the presentation, including approaches to policy development, staff training, documentation, and response procedures for government investigations or enforcement actions.
- Learn how to conduct thorough risk assessments of clinical practice and prepare risk assessment reports in alignment with HRSA expectations
- Understand the FTCA site visit process and prepare for potential review or audit by FTCA representatives.
