Target Audience

Primary care physicians, internists, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and physician assistants

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:
  • Understand key management principles to care for a patient with intractable chronic pain
  • Develop capacity to address the impact of the patient's pain on their quality of life and physical, mental and social function
  • Evaluate a patient's response to treatment and determine appropriate next steps to support recovery and abstinence if challenges or setbacks arise
  • Describe the intent, approach, and for implementing the key recommendations from the 2022 CDC Guidelines for Prescribing Opioids for Pain
