21st Annual Raphael Miara Patient Safety Symposium: “Improving Patient Safety Using Artificial Intelligence" - November 20, 2026

Boston, MA US

Harm caused during care is frequent, with rates of almost one in 4 in one large study.  Dr. Bates will discuss the main categories of harm, and which patients are most likely to experience harm.  He will also go over how the electronic medical record can be used to find adverse events in near real time, which can help institutions improve the safety of the care they deliver.  There are also many ways that artificial intelligence can be used directly to prevent adverse events, and he will discuss some of those and how AI may be the most useful in the near term from that perspective.

Target Audience

All BU Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center Providers and Staff
