Western Massachusetts School Nurses recently participated in a Clinical Skills Refresher Pilot taught by GCC Faculty Suzanne Goffedo. School nurses had the opportunity to practice clinical skills and participate in a simulation involving a tracheostomy emergency.
Here's what participants had to say about the refresher pilot:
- "The simulation was incredibly helpful as it allowed me to reflect back upon my mistakes in a controlled safe setting..."
- "I believe this was invaluable to School Nurses. We may not have Students with these special medical care needs often but when we do we need to be confident in our abilities. We are the medical experts of our buildings and need to perform as such. It was an informative refresher course. I felt supported and there were no judgments as real-life scenarios were presented to us to respond to and provide appropriate care."
