(RECORDING) School Re-entry: Supporting Children’s Behavioral and Mental Health Needs

Do you feel prepared to meet the mental and behavioral health needs of your students as we enter another year affected by the COVID-19 Pandemic?

The stresses, financial difficulties, loss of life, and disruption to daily life experienced by the population during the pandemic have brought forth an array of mental health concerns that School Health Professionals (SHPs) will encounter as they return to school.  This and subsequent sessions in the series will deliver vital information and tools to SHPs, better preparing them to address the mental and behavioral health concerns of their individual students and whole school community.

Learning Objectives

After completing this course, learners will be able to:

  1. Describe the challenges in fostering a safe and supportive school environment posed by the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  2. Explain what the data is telling us about the experiences of children and youth during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
  3. Describe two universal strategies to promote resilience amongst students 
  4. Apply one communication strategy designed to prompt information gathering and support mental and behavioral health in a school setting.
